Expert White Water Rafting Review

Shoot the whitewater rapids of the Upper Arkansas River. Challenge the 28 miles of Class IV-V (Pine Creek); III-IV+ (Numbers); III-IV (Narrows) rapids, most outfitters require that rafters be at least 18 yrs old and have rafting experience. These sections, Pine Creek Canyon, The Numbers, and The Narrows, are located in south-central Colorado, north of Buena Vista, 15 miles from Hwy 285.

Practical Info: Rafting season is open approximately from May to August, with whitewater rafting trips that can be completed in 1 day. Popular trips include the 5 mile Pine Creek section, and the 12 mile Numbers section. The river is suitable for paddle rafts. Portage may be required.

Useful Tips: Guides are optional, although permits may be required for private trips, and whitewater experience is recommended.
