Shoot the whitewater rapids of the Lower Animas River. Challenge the 12 miles of Class I-III rapids, ideal for families with young children or a first time rafting experience. This section passes through Historic Durango and is located in La Plata County, at Durango, on Hwy 550.
Practical Info: Rafting season is open approximately from May to August, with whitewater rafting trips ranging in length from less than half a day to a full day. The river is suitable for paddle rafts, and oar rafts.
