Experience the whitewater of the Gorge on the Gunnison River. Shoot the 14 miles of Class II-III+ rapids, with abundant wildlife and truly magnificent scenery make the 1 mile hike to the put-in point well worth it. This section is located in southwest Colorado, 10 miles east of Delta, 5 miles south of Hwy 92.

Practical Info: Rafting season is open approximately from May to September, with whitewater rafting trips ranging in length from a day trip up to 3 days. The river is suitable for paddle rafts, and oar rafts. Portage may be required (1 mile, with the option of renting packhorses).

Useful Tips: Guides are optional, although permits may be required for private trips. Outfitters on the Gorge on the Gunnison River offer trips suitable for families.

Expect to See: Peregrine falcons, bald eagles, bighorn sheep, ringtail cats, marmots, and river otters in an environment of wilderness, and mountains.
