At Howelsen Hill you can actually say you skied on the training grounds of champions. You may even bump into a few, because Howelsen Hill has prepared more North American skiers for competition than any other ski area – over 47 Olympians, 15 members of the Colorado Ski Hall of Fame, and six members of the National Ski Hall of Fame, to be exact. If that's not enough, it also lays claim to being the oldest ski area in continuous use in Colorado – but don't worry, Howelsen Hill boasts plenty of modern amenities. Its base town is nearby Steamboat Springs, which has plenty of fun off-the-slopes activities and lodging options – making Howelsen Hill a ski vacation that can make you proud your skills are on par with the champions.

Howelsen Hill has the largest and most complete natural ski jumping complex in North America, including 20m, 30m, 50m, 70m, and 90m jumps. It offers both day and night skiing and snowboarding on its 30 acres of terrain. The area is serviced by a double chair, Poma lift and a pony tow. The longest trail is one mile long, and the ski area also has one half-pipe. The Howelsen Hill Sports Complex includes an alpine ski area, ice skating rink, Nordic jumping hills, snow board half-pipe, alpine slide, and summer biking and hiking trails in addition to rodeo grounds.
