A combination of separate national forests located on the western slope of the Colorado Rockies, Grand Mesa, Gunnison and Uncompahgre National Forests cover 3,161,912 acres of spectacular Rockies scenery. From the 355 ft. high Bridal Veil Falls to the 300 lakes of Grand Mesa, one of the world's largest flattop mountains, to the Alpine Tunnel, once the highest railroad tunnel in North America, this national forest trilogy has got something for everyone.

The Uncompahgre National Forest includes the Uncompahgre Plateau, portions of the San Juan Mountains and three wilderness areas filled with gorges and canyons as well as the Telluride Ski Area, which offers downhill skiing opportunities. Gunnison National Forest encompasses part of Colorado's central Rockies and includes two peaks over 14,000 ft., and 20 more over 13,000 ft. in elevation along with the Crested Butte Ski area, great for downhill skiing and snowboarding. Besides winter sports, this national forest has developed and dispersed camping for those who want to enjoy a night in the rugged outdoors, along with fantastic vistas, and activities such as fishing, hiking, boating, biking, mountain climbing, backpacking and more.

Grand Mesa, Gunnison, Uncompahgre National Forest begins in the east at Monarch Pass on the Continental Divide and continues west to the Utah border, and the region extends south from the Grand Mesa to the San Juan Mountains.
