Things to do / Travel Guide

Rocky Mountain high! Winter or summer, the Colorado Rockies region is THE place for recreation. That includes fabulous golf. With the thin, rarified, “mile high” air, even the least skilled golfers to tee off will find that their drives fly linger than ever before. How's that for encouragement?!

Are you an expert? Then Redlands Mesa out by Grand Junction is the course for you. This gorgeous and challenging course will give you the feeling you're playing at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. The course is also original. Take the 300-yard par 4 14th hole - the tee shot must be threaded between two small buttes.
If you're successful, you must pitch the ball onto a green tucked in inside a canyon some 90 degrees to the right. Flub the tee shot and you'll have to approach the green blind. Get the picture? Come with your “A+” game.

Then there's Keystone Ranch. This links-style course relishes the mountain atmosphere. The course plays through an open meadow where the challenges are primarily in the bunkers and the lake.

Playing in the mountain air of the Breckenridge Golf Club you'll hit distances Tiger Woods would admire. The course was designed by Jack Nicklaus, and includes many hazards and challenges.

The pricey Red Sky Ranch Greg Norman Course will take you through craggy rock outcroppings, twisted knots of scrub oak, rugged gulches, and wildflower meadows. This is a tough but beautiful course to play.

Aspen Glen boasts an island green, a number of holes which play across or along a river, and many greens protected by bunkers. The key is to keep your ball under control.

Then there's River Valley Ranch, where you'll come across elevation changes and water obstacles, along with large greens for you to hit with your short game.

Finally, The Glacier Club at Tamarron promises mountain golf at its finest. Three 9-hole courses meet the needs of every golfer while taking him (or her) beneath rugged cliffs and through long slim valleys.
