The state's most popular metropolitan park, Goddard Memorial is a 489-acre center for both community events and recreation. The Park is home to trees from all over the world, including deciduous and evergreen, which were brought to the park when the land was still privately owned, as well as endless fields and spacious lawns. The nine-hole golf course and game fields as well as 18 miles of bridle trails and sandy beaches offer great fun for visitors. In addition, the new performing arts center is perfect for weddings and other special events. Goddard Park attracts thousands of visitors each year as Rhode Island's most popular Metropolitan Park. The park offers a beautiful natural environment with spacious lawns, fields, and forested areas with a variety of trees from all over the world, including 62 deciduous and 19 evergreen species.
