Located in historic Jamestown, Beavertail State Park spans 170 acres and is a perfect New England day-trip destination. The park boasts incredible vistas of rocky coastline and passing sailboats that can be enjoyed on foot or viewed by car. The saltwater fishing here is some of the best around and the park's marine education programs offer a variety of ocean studies. The most-visited landmark here is the famous lighthouse, Newport Light, which is the third-oldest on the Atlantic coast and located at the south end of the island. The Lighthouse Museum has an abundance of history and artifacts as well as a gift-shop and classic New England hospitality.
