At the Old South Meeting House, you can visit the place where the first group of American revolutionaries banded together for the first time and set out to participate in the Boston Tea Party, one of the first acts of rebellion against the British Crown. Five thousand angry colonists gathered here at the Old Meeting House before setting out to the British merchant ships. This famous church has entertained many famous congregants such as Samuel Adams, Phillis Wheatley, and Benjamin Franklin! The building has served as a platform for free speech for hundreds of years, and is still a place for people to meet and discuss the important issues of the day.

Today, when you visit the Old Meeting House, you can explore its fascinating history through the Voices of Protest exhibit, which includes rare artifacts, life-like figures, and several interactive displays. An engrossing audio exhibit takes you back to the events of the Boston Tea Party, the British Occupation of Boston, and the story of the Old Meeting House's last minute rescue from demolition.

You can even take part in fun family activities, and have a blast with the scavenger hunt that'll help your kids learn about and explore the building and exhibits. With the Anna's World Activity Kit you can explore the Old Meeting House through the eyes of 12-year old congregant Anna Green Winslow. You can even try writing with a quill pen, or dress like a colonist on one of the museum's colonial clothing days!
