Zoos and Aquariums around Boston, Massachusetts
The New England Aquarium, in Boston, is a great stop for families who'd like a close-up view of marine life being cared for by veterinarians. You might even see vets perform an ultrasound on a sea raven and an EKG on a penguin!
The Walter D. Stone Memorial Zoo has a four-acre expanse of grassland and rolling, wooded hills that feature animals from Africa. Guests can also can also visit a tropical rainforest or see almost 1,000 butterflies in free flight. Kids will enjoy a petting zoo.
At the Franklin Park Zoo, you can enjoy the Serengeti Crossing with its zebras, ibex, ostriches, and wildebeests by day, and then let the kids sleep over that night. There's lots and lots to do here - day and night, so check it out.
At the Buttonwood Park Zoo in New Bedford, Massachusetts, you'll journey through exhibits that take you from the Berkshires to the sea; exhibits where you'll meet, black bears, mountain lions, bobcats, river otters, bald eagles, seals, and many other animals. Having opened in 1894, this is the 12th-oldest zoo in the United States.
