Our Museum Expert Says:

This attraction is for kids of all ages! Explore the far reaches of the galaxy in a spaceship, discover the wonders of water, and build your own creations in the construction zone. The Louisville Science Center is all about hands-on, interactive fun.

Boasting at one time little more than an Egyptian mummy and a 16,000-piece mineral collection, the Louisville Science Center is now the largest hands-on science center in Kentucky, with about 150 interactive exhibits and activity stations. The Science Center's newest permanent exhibit, The World Around Us, teaches visitors about the Atmosphere, Terrasphere, and Aquasphere. The World We Create lets kids build with blocks, design a bike, deliver a hi-tech package, or conduct chemistry experiments. The Center also boasts an IMAX theatre. On Family Science Nights which include admission to the Science Center's exhibits, hands-on activities throughout the galleries, an IMAX film, and admission to KidZone, children ages seven and younger can take their caregivers and go zooming across the sky in an airplane, race through the streets of Louisville in an ambulance, or board a bus headed for fun. The Science Center is located on West Main Street between Seventh and Eighth Streets at 727 West Main Street in Louisville.

From Louisville Science Center - Kentucky:

The Louisville Science Center has made an impressive journey from its founding as a "cabinet of curiosities" in the Public Library System of Kentucky in 1871 to its current status as the region's leading resource for informal science education. Boasting at one time little more than an Egyptian mummy and a 16,000-piece mineral collection, the Science Center is now the largest hands-on science center in Kentucky, with about 150 interactive exhibits and activity stations, a four-story IMAX Theatre, teaching laboratories, a variety of educational programs, and distance learning capabilities. Designated the "State Science Center of Kentucky" by the 2002 Kentucky General Assembly, we now serve over 550,000 persons annually. We have truly come a long way!
