The 11-acre zoo is home to 85 different species. The newest additions to Zoo Boise include the Magellanic penguins, a sloth bear, a sarus crane, and a red panda. Zoo Boise's newest project is the construction of an African Plains exhibit, which will be home to lions and giraffes, among other animals.

Located in beautiful Julia Davis Park, Zoo Boise was established in 1916. Zoo Boise is proudly accredited by the American Zoo & Aquarium Association, a distinction shared by only 210 of the nation's 2,800 zoos. Boise is open all year round. Winter is a great time to see the animals, some of which are more active during the cooler weather. Plus, the zoo recommends our "Hot Zone" tour, which provides visitors with a designated path that brings you inside a heated building every ten minutes.
