Expert White Water Rafting Review

Shoot the whitewater rapids of the Upper Salmon River. Challenge the 35 miles of Class II-III+ rapids. A drop of 30 feet per mile creates good, technical whitewater. This section, Redfish Lake Creek to Slate Creek, passes through Sawtooth National Recreation Area and is located in central Idaho, south-west of Challis, 50 miles west of Hwy 93.

Practical Info: Rafting season is open approximately from May to September, with whitewater rafting trips ranging in length from a half day to a full day. The river is suitable for paddle rafts, oar rafts, and inflatable kayaks.

Useful Tips: Guides are optional, although permits may be required for private trips.

Expect to See: An environment of canyons, and mountains.
