Venture down the whitewater of the Payette River's South Fork. Experience the 36 miles of Class III-IV (upper), II-III (Old Swirley), II-III+ (lower canyon) rapids, steep canyons and narrow gorges and a 40 ft Class VI waterfall (must be portaged). These sections, Canyon and Lower, are located in southwest Idaho, north of Boise, 40 miles from I-84.
Practical Info: Rafting season is open approximately from May to September, with whitewater rafting trips that can be completed in a half day. Popular trips include the 15 mile Upper section, and the 14 mile Old Swirley Canyon section. The river is suitable for paddle rafts, and oar rafts.
Useful Tips: Guides are optional, although permits may be required for private trips.
Expect to See: Bear and deer in an environment of wilderness, and mountains.
