Venture down the whitewater of the Grande Ronde. Experience the 99 miles of Class I-II+ rapids, perfect for multi-day family trips. These sections, Minam to Troy and Troy to Confluence with Snake River, pass through Umatilla National Forest, and are located in northeast Oregon, east of Elgin, on W Hwy 82.
Practical Info: Rafting season is open approximately from April to July, with whitewater rafting trips ranging in length from a day trip up to 5 days. Popular trips include the 44 mile section from Minam to Troy, and the 45 mile section from Troy to confluence of the Snake River. The river is suitable for paddle rafts, oar rafts, kayaks, and dories.
Useful Tips: Guides are optional, although permits may be required for private trips. Outfitters on the Grande Ronde offer trips suitable for families.
Expect to See: Bear, bighorn sheep, elk, deer, and bald eagles in an environment of wilderness, canyons, forests, and mountains.
