On the border of Nevada sitting less than an hour away from Twin Falls, Magic Mountain Ski Resort is a mountain that's superb for beginner's and children to learn on, while catering to all skill levels at the same time. Under new management, improvements have been made to soar above anywhere they were lacking before.
Eleven trails of varying degrees of difficulty are serviced by three lifts of which two are surface only. There are 120 acres to comb over on marked trails and 32 kilometers of backcountry terrain. The average snowfall here is 230 inches on a summit of 7,240 feet with a vertical drop of 700 feet.
There is a new terrain park which includes all the most common jumps and jibs. Leashes are required, and access is granted on all trails to those on boards.
Magic Mountain's season runs from December to March. It is only open from Friday to Sunday, 930am to 4pm. Full, or half day passes starting at 1230pm, are sold and children under the age of 6 ski or ride free with a paying adult. Tubing tickets are sold in 2 hour blocks of time for Saturday and Sunday runs at around $8 a ticket, rendering this an affordable family adventure.
There is a day lodge onsite which houses a small café, the rental shop, and a lounge to relax in. there is no onsite lodging, but you will find a Best Western, Motel 6, Holiday Inn, and many other options within a 30-45 minute drive.
