Our Museum Expert Says:

Welcome to the South Florida Museum and Parker Manatee Aquarium, where you'll learn about the history of Florida and visit a world-class aquarium all in one convenient stop!

This waterfront museum attracts visitors from all over Florida because of its fantastic history exhibits that explore the history of Florida from prehistoric times to the present, focusing on Florida's animals, industry, and people over time. Guests will encounter fossils and other archeological findings that date all the way back to the Pleistocene era! Make sure you don't miss the Native American life-size dioramas and the Spanish courtyard filled with replicas of 16th century buildings. The museum complex also includes the Bishop Planetarium which offers educational and astronomically beautiful light and sound shows, as well as the famed Parker Manatee Aquarium. Perhaps it is at the aquarium where the main attraction of the area resides: Here guests meet will Snooty, the world's oldest manatee born in captivity! There are also two other manatees for you to get to know, and the aquarium has skilled and friendly staff running programs with the manatees. During these interactive educational presentations, guests will learn about manatee behavior, habitats and physiology and about the rescue and rehabilitation work of the Parker Manatee Aquarium, Manatee presentations are offered about four times a day and last about 20 minutes long.

The South Florida Museum and Parker Manatee Aquarium is located in Manatee County at 201 W10th Street and Barcarrota Boulevard in Bradenton, Florida. Tell Snooty we say hi!
