The Florida International Museum in St. Petersburg is one of Florida's top cultural attractions, dedicated to providing educational, cultural and historical exhibitions.
In addition to its two permanent exhibits (one about John F. Kennedy and the other about the Cuban Missile Crisis), the Florida International Museum showcases a number of traveling exhibits a few times a year, and you just never know what fantastic exhibits may come through this amazing museum! Past exhibits have showcased authentic Dead Sea Scroll fragments, treasures of the Czars, the Titanic, ancient Biblical manuscripts, the history, science and development of dogs, a collection of over 200 Barbie® dolls, the life and work of Diana, Princess of Wales, and the Hubble telescope.
The museum's galleries are handicap accessible. And a minimal number of wheel chairs are available at no extra charge.
The museum's Smithsonian Store features gifts, jewelry, clothing, Chinese porcelain ladies, home furnishing, science and activity kits, toys, books, and more.
To get to the Florida International Museum from Interstate 275 Southbound, take exit #23A, from Northbound, exit #23 (I-375 East) to Fourth Street North (second traffic light off the highway) and turn right. Go two blocks to Second Avenue North and turn left. The museum is just before the multi-story parking lot on the right in the St. Petersburg College Downtown Center.
