Stepping onto St. Pete Beach on Long Key Barrier Island on Florida's west coast, is like stepping directly into a picture postcard. 4.5 miles of sand as white and soft as baby powder and shimmering turquoise water on the Gulf of Mexico, complete with playful dolphins sunning themselves just off shore, make this a truly ideal beach getaway. It's a fun and easy destination on the Pinellas Peninsula. The Gulf of Mexico is just to the west and Tampa Bay to the east and exhilarating Busch Gardens is just a half hour away.

St. Pete Beach is just one of several Beaches making up the Pinellas Suncoast, and is the most popular beach of them all. It has a great energy , and lots of activities that have brought visitors to its sandy beaches for almost a century. In addition to its smooth sandy beach, perfect for setting up camp for a day near the waves, it's also got a boardwalk running from St. Pete to Treasure Island, so those who prefer a more active beach holiday can go bicycling or skating while taking in the gorgeous ocean view.

The 34 mile Pinellas Trail runs by St. Pete's Beach, and you can rent bikes, scooters, and skates in order to explore the natural beauty of the area car-free. For those who don't want to leave the water's edge just yet, there's boating, parasailing, water-skiing, and pretty much any other water sport you could possibly think of.

The St. Pete Beach Access Park has parking, restrooms with showering facilities, and boardwalks that take visitors across the sandy dunes to the swim area. Swimming is permitted here, but there are no lifeguards. This is an area that is over 5 acres in size, and is dedicated to preserving the natural landscape, and providing direct access to the beach.

The St. Pete Beach city area is a nice place to go after the sun goes down, with restaurants, shopping and children's activities. For shopping, try the Historic Corey Avenue Shopping District. There are hotels, motels, museums, theaters, and golf courses. You can get from St. Pete Beach to all the other beach communities just by hopping a ride on the Suncoast Beach Trolley which runs from 5:05am to 10:10 pm, all week, going till midnight on Friday and Saturday nights.
