Weather in Orlando, Tampa and Central Florida

Things to do / Travel Guide

Orlando's theme parks make this area a year-round destination regardless of the weather. While the weather is warm all year round, conditions vary from clear and dry to humid with thunderstorms, depending on the season. Winter weather is typically warm and dry with blue, sunny skies and the occasional brief cold spell. Spring begins early in the year, with warm weather and tropical showers. Hot and humid summers are interspersed with frequent afternoon rainstorms. It is from then until the end of the fall that tropical storms and hurricanes threaten this region.

Dry, clear, blue skies welcome anyone who travels to Florida for the winter.
The infrequent brief cold spells are short-lived because of the region's plentiful sunshine. Spring brings with it warmer temperatures with long stretches of dry and sunny weather. Sea breezes thankfully lower temperatures year-round so that the mercury doesn't rise too high. Despite this, the summer heat, when combined with the area's very high humidity, can be quite stifling. Almost-daily thunderstorms douse the area all summer long and well into the fall, and, while the skies are still sunny, the area is at risk of hurricanes from June-November.
