Things to do / Travel Guide
A unique and entertaining place to do some shopping is at Church Street Station in downtown Orlando. This entertainment complex not only offers music, drinks, dining, and midway games, but also dozens of interesting shops.
Another interesting place to shop is at Old Town on U.S. Highway 192 in Kissimmee. This shopping, entertainment, and eating development is quaint and fun and has dozens of specialty shops. Here, you will find many shops featuring nostalgia and collectible items, special craft items, and unique and unusual trinkets. There is also a permanent carnival in Old Town, featuring a vintage carousel. Special treats for visitors are the regularly-scheduled vintage car shows held here. This is a fun place for the whole family.
Note that many outlet stores in the region sell much of the popular “character” apparel offered in the Orlando-area theme parks at greatly reduced prices. The styles may be a few months old, but the selection is large and the potential savings are tremendous. The Disney Corporation, in particular, has several official outlets in the area where overstocked items are sold at discounts of up to 80%. Visit these outlets before you are tempted by the high clothing prices in the parks themselves.
