Central Florida stretches about 150 miles across from coast to coast in the middle part of the Florida peninsula. The Atlantic Ocean borders the region on the east, while the Gulf of Mexico is on the west. Tampa and St. Petersburg are located on the large Tampa Bay, off the Gulf Coast, while Orlando is inland, and Cape Canaveral is on the Atlantic Coast.
With literally dozens of miles of coastline, Central Florida features many beautiful beaches. There are also several freshwater lakes throughout the region. The terrain is basically flat, but sometimes is peppered with hilly areas.
