- Central Florida is the only region in the U.S. that has two rivers with identical name. There is a Withlacoochee River is north central Florida and another lower down in central Florida. The two rivers are not connected in any way, except in name of course.

- Because of Orlando's prominent position in the tourist industry, there are more than 25,000 vacation homes and rental properties throughout Central Florida.
- Drivers driving over Tampa Bay get a gorgeous, unobstructed view of the Bay when they drive over the 190 foot cable suspended concrete bridge, the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Its bright yellow cables that spread out from the two central pillars have the unmistakable likeness to the sun's rays bursting through the clouds.
- Defuniak Springs in Central Florida is not only one of Florida's favorite springs, but is also the location of one of the countries only two naturally round lakes.

- The purchase of the large tracts of land necessary to build Disney World was done via one of the largest series of covert real estate purchases in history. Walt Disney did this to avoid having to pay inflated prices for the land.
- Orlando is known by locals as O-Town, even though the official nickname is "The City Beautiful."
- Orlando is the headquarters of Darden Restaurants which runs the Olive Garden and Red Lobster, which is why you'll see a more-than-usual number of these around Orlando.
