Our Sports Superfan Says:
Home of the almost century-old California Rodeo, and several other exciting events, the Salinas Sports Complex, and its 17,000-seat main stadium, are a prime attraction on the central California coast. Built in 1996 to accommodate not just the annual rodeo, but an array of sports, Salinas is a link between the cowboys of the past and the multi-use sports complexes of today.
The California Rodeo, which has been held at the Salinas Sports Complex grounds since 1911, takes place every July, with two weeks' worth of concerts, parades, rides and, of course, the rodeo.
In addition to the rodeo, the Salinas Sports Complex also hosts monster truck events, road races, concerts, and local events. Furthermore, the stadium, which converts from a turf field (for rodeo, equestrian, and auto racing events) to a grass field in the non-summer months, hosts soccer, rugby, and football games as well, making Salinas one of the most diverse sports complexes in the country. There are also baseball fields and parks at the complex.
The Salinas Sports Complex is located in Salinas, California, in Monterey County. It is less than 10 miles from the Pacific Ocean, and is about 75 miles from the middle of the San Francisco Bay area.
