Our Show & Concert Fan Says:
Take a trip to Oz to learn how the Ozians first received the Wicked Witch of the West and the Good Witch of the East. Get insider information that Dorothy never knew and never cared enough to explore. Find out who really is wicked in the Land of Oz and who just appears to be that way…
Enjoy Wicked on the big stage and enter a world full of magic, sorcery, good, and evil. Wicked tells the unknown history of Oz, witches, munchkins, wizard, and all, with a set, cast, and score brilliantly combined to give you an unforgettable performance! Lyrics and choreography are also first-rate and promise to leave you wanting for more. You'll be singing songs from Wicked for days and months, if not years after seeing this stunning performance.
The shows are the major draw to the Orpheum Theatre, but the architecture and design of this performance venue are also worth checking out. The Orpheum was designed in 1926 in the style of a Spanish cathedral. 12th century architecture welcomes you as you step through dramatic, carved doors into the theater lobby. The auditorium has lion statues staring down at you from the ceiling, Spanish mythical figures along the aisle, and a sun with shining stars in the cathedral high above you. There is an elaborate tapestry over the balcony. The theater has seen many performances since its opening nearly a century ago – vaudeville acts, silent films, movies, musical theater performances, and popular music events.
Showtimes are Mondays through Saturdays at 8:00pm, Sundays at 7:30pm, and matinees on Sundays and Wednesdays at 2:00pm. The Orpheum Theatre is located at 1192 Market Street in San Francisco, California.
