Our Nature Nut Says:

Managed by both the State and National Park systems, Redwoods National and State Park protects 45% of the remaining coastal redwoods and is a fine example of American Conservation. At over 112,000 forest-filled acres, the Park is overwhelmingly powerful and equally diverse in ecology; Redwoods is home to black bears, grey whales and banana slugs, as well as countless trees. Ranger-led nature and tide pool walks are available for the nature-hungry or explore on your own while hiking the Little Bald Hills, Lost Man Creek or Davison trails. There are also scenic drives available which offer incredible ocean views where sea lions and whales may often be seen from the steep overlooks. Events at Redwoods include Indian Dance demonstrations in the summertime and an unforgettable annual candlelight celebration of the Redwoods, where visitors can pay homage to nature's incredible symbol of endurance and wonder.

From Robert Louis Stevenson State Park - California:

Robert Louis Stevenson State Park is the place where the famous author of Treasure Island and Kidnapped spent his honeymoon in 1880. Although nothing remains of Stevenson's cabin, the site is identified on the trail to the summit. The area features rough terrain, with evergreen forests in the canyons on north-facing slopes and chaparral on the south-facing slopes. There is a five-mile hike to the top of Mt. St. Helens from which one can see much of the Bay Area. On good days the top of Mt. Shasta can be seen, 192 miles in the distance. To protect the park's wildlife and other natural resources, dogs are not permitted in this park.
