Our Nature Nut Says:

Muir Woods protects one of California's most treasured gems - majestic Coast Redwood trees, once severely threatened by loggers. The park boasts towering redwoods anywhere from 600-800 years old, with one estimated to be at least 1,100 years old. But the park is much more than just an ode to the stunning redwoods. Visitors can relax along Muir or Stinson Beaches or go on a challenging hike through the wooded canyons of Olema Valley in the north. Keep an eye out for unique flora adapted to low light levels in the forest thriving alongside Stellar's Jays, trout lilies, and slimy banana slugs. The forest is a true festival for the senses and a great place to take the kids.
