Our Museum Expert Says:

Get up close and personal with famous artists, world leaders, athletes and musicians. Meet the wax figures of celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, O.J. Simpson, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, and many more in one of the world's most visited spots.

The Wax Museum, located at 145 Jefferson St San Francisco, is a vital and changing San Francisco attraction opened by Thomas Fong in 1963 from a renovated chicken feed warehouse. The original building has recently been replaced by a $15 million, 100,000 square foot showplace in which the historic 100 year old design is preserved. The traditional San Francisco architecture features spectacular domes, ornate bay windows, ornamental metalwork and complex roof lines, all enhanced by the artistic use of brick, stucco, metal and glass.

Today, The Wax Museum at Fisherman's Wharf is one of the world's largest wax museums, and continues to show all aspects of life from the Chamber of Horrors to the inspiring Hall of Religion. It includes such spectacular exhibits as the historic Library of U.S. Presidents, the Recreation of King Tut's Tomb and the Palace of Living Art. The fun atmosphere here is perfect for kids of all ages, and children are sure to encounter many personalities they know and love. Once here, be sure to take advantage of the great crabs and clam chowder sold right outside on the Wharf.

From Wax Museum at Fisherman's Wharf:

One of the first stops on the list of any San Francisco visitor is world famous Fisherman's Wharf. The area runs along the northwestern water front from Van Ness Avenue to roughly Pier 35 and originally served as San Francisco's main fishing pier. Though some fishing still continues here today, the Wharf is primarily known for its excellent dining, fun attractions and easy access to many of the city's main sight-seeing destinations.
