Come visit a San Francisco landmark with more than 15,000 pieces in its eclectic and diverse collection. Along with its refreshing architectural design, the The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) will delight and surprise the pickiest of modern art enthusiasts.

The museum is known for its beautiful sienna brick facade and central tower with alternating bands of black and white stone. The galleries inside are filled with natural light from the tower and the lobby's massive chessboard floor design, while gargantuan sculptures hanging from above give a whimsical and modern air to the place. Popular works here include those by Matisse, Picasso, O'Keeffe and Frida Kahlo - and there's also a free, 45-minute tour to make sure visitors get in all the legends while here.

The 20th-century photography exhibit is also a highlight at the SFMOMA, with 9,000 works including pieces by Ansel Adams, Alfred Stieglitz and Edward Weston. Kids will love the 145-foot skylight tower and Family Studio Sundays, which have a free, hands-on art studio for youngsters. When you're ready for lunch Café Museo offers light meals for visitors. To get here, the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) has multiple lines that come to the SFMOMA including Montgomery Street or Powell Street station Muni Bus Lines: #5 Fulton, #9 San Bruno, #14 Mission, #15 Third, #30 Stockton, #38 Geary, and #45. Union Muni Metro Lines: J-Church, K-Ingleside, L-Taraval, M-Oceanview, N-Judah (use Montgomery Street or Powell Street station).
