Our Museum Expert Says:

The Randall Museum offers adults and children a day of exciting science and discovery about the earth and our environment.

In the Living with a Restless Earth exhibit, you can learn how people survive tornadoes, lighting, avalanches, and hurricanes. You can make your own earthquake by jumping on the floor, and learn about the earthquakes happening right now all around the world. There's even a 1906 replica home of one of the many homes destroyed in the Great San Francisco Earthquake and Fire of 1906. In the Live Animal exhibit, visitors can expect to meet over 100 animals who have made their home in the museum because they cannot survive in the wild. These animals show you California's amazingly diverse and disappearing wildlife. Creativity and Discovery Hand in Hand is the title of the exhibit that gives visitors a glimpse into the wide variety of programs that the Randall Museum offers in the way of classes, workshops, school field trips, and special interest clubs.

Toddlers will love the Tree House Toddler Exploration Zone which is loaded with safe and fun carpeted climbing structures, as well as toys, and books. Other permanent areas of the museum include a woodshop, art and ceramics studios, a lapidary workshop, a 188-seat theater, a greenhouse, and gardens. The Randall Museum also houses changing science, art, and interactive exhibits.

To get to Randall Museum take any bus, train, or ferry downtown and transfer to the outbound K,L, or M MUNI metro lines. Then take the MUNI 24 Divisadero bus to Castro St. and 14th St. Walk uphill on 14th to Roosevelt and turn left. Follow Roosevelt as it curves up the hill to Museum Way and turn left. You'll find the museum at the end of the path. If you're driving, go south on Divisadero St. (away from the Bay), and turn right at the light onto 14th St. At the first stop sign, turn left on Roosevelt Way. Continue 1/4 mile uphill to the first stop sign and turn left on Museum Way.
