Our Beach Bum Says:

Monterey State Beach is shared by the cities of Monterey and Seaside and boasts three separate beaches each about a mile apart. Surfers and scuba divers flock here as do fishermen and lovers of tide pool watching. If you enjoy your fun on land, do nor fear: kite flying and volleyball are also popular activities here and the flat shore is great for kids who want to comb the beach for treasures. If you enjoy the beach near the wharf, there are food and restrooms available close by. Do note that the climate here in the Central Coast varies with elevation and areas with more coastal influence have more moderate temperatures. Fog is common from June through mid-August so if you're planning on sightseeing, plan your coastal visit in the late summer or fall. Though there is no camping at the beach, there's an RV Park a few miles north and plenty of hotels in the area.
