Welcome to Half Moon Bay State Beach, a beach system filled with different beaches and activities to suit every type of beach-goer!

Besides for the regular swimming, surfing, sunbathing and other various water sports, visitors to Half Moon will be able to hike along the Coastside trail, a three mile walk or bike ride that cuts through four different beaches (Roosevelt Beach, Venice Beach, Dunes Beach, and Francis Beach), bringing you to the Pillar Point Harbor. There's also a horse trail that runs from Half Moon's Roosevelt Beach to Francis Beach. There's even wi-fi service available for those who can't spend an afternoon without checking their email! Also, keep your eyes peeled and you may spot a rare western snowy plover, California sea lions, harbor seals, dolphins, and even whales! And for all you fishermen out there, be prepared for some stellar conditions: You'll find tons of flatfish, sole, rockfish, herring, flounder, and other varieties that can very well become your next dinner!

Camping at Half Moon Bay State Beach is fun and popular, so make sure you reserve your spot early! The beach is located just off Highway 1 in Half Moon Bay, near Princeton-by-the-Sea. Make sure you drop by the visitor's center (open Saturdays and Sundays) to learn more about the beach and the exciting activities it offers. Don't forget your sunblock and have a fantastic time at these wide, sandy beaches!
