Address:Point Reyes, California
Drake's Beach is a popular beach at Point Reyes National Seashore, and as soon as you see the clear blue waters, the wide sandy beach, and the dramatic sandstone cliffs, you'll see why!
People from all over California come to Drake's Beach to unwind, de-stress, and take in some of the most beautiful scenery around. The highlight is definitely the sandstone cliffs. These Drake's Bay cliffs were formed about 10-13 million years ago when sand was deposited from the shallow waters onto the shore. The sand compacted and uplifted and then erosion did the rest. The result? A beautiful sight for sunbathers and swimmers alike to cast their eyes upon while enjoying the beautiful weather and the rest of the Drake's Beach scene. Another sight you won't want to miss is the migration of the whales – catch them during whale season, December through mid-April.
Drake's Beach has bathrooms and a nice café, the Drake's Beach Café, a bit expensive, but offers a great healthy and organic menu. If you want to bring your own food, there are BBQ pits available too. You can even get a permit and build your own bonfire on the beach – a great option for parties!
To get to Drake's Beach you take the 101 to Lucas Valley Road. Have fun at one of the best beaches that Marin County has to offer!
