Address:Morro Bay, California
Atascadero State Beach, on Central California Coast's Morro Bay, is the kind of beach that gives the Pacific Ocean its good name. Peaceful, gentle waves roll onto a generous expansive flat of soft sand. The water at Atascadero State Beach is so forgiving, that novice surfers use the beach to learn how to ride the tides and balance on their boards. Well-loved by locals and visitors for its quiet atmosphere, Atascadero State Beach is ideal for swimming, sunning, and lazing in the sand.
Located about a half an hour from the town of Atascadero, Atascadero State Beach is adjacent to the Morro Bay coastal community. Travel along Highway 1 (parallel to Atascadero State Beach) and you will find all the standard chain hotels and restaurants, but on the beach you will need to bring your own food. Otherwise, Atascadero State Beach has all of the beaching basics as well as a few amenities. Restrooms, showers, dressing rooms, and a parking lot are available on-site. Bring a blanket, a good book and a cool drink and let the calming rhythm of the temperate waves loll you into the relaxing zone that defines "vacation."
