Things to do / Travel Guide

In Monterey, California, there is one spot that is pretty popular with kids and their parents and that is the Dennis the Menace Playground, located near Lake Estero and the corner of Camino El Estero and Del Monte Avenue. The Dennis the Menace Playground, based on the popular Dennis the Menace television cartoon series, is filled with Dennis the Menace-inspired tunnels and bridges and an authentic Southern Pacific Railroad that kids and their parents can ride. Also, paddleboats can be rented and there's a small man-made lake filled with ducks that kids can feed. The Dennis the Menace Playground is free and open everyday from mid-morning until sunset.

Or, perhaps a state park or beach is the way to go, if you want to show the little ones some genuine nature and wildlife. Also, especially along the coast, sea lions, otters, and dolphins can be seen swimming in the sea.
