Our History Buff Says:

The Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome is not your average museum, but a 110 acre playground for the lover of airplanes. Located in Red Hood, New York, the Aerodrome is spacious enough to house hundreds of planes, automobiles, and aircraft engines from the World War I era and to display unique airshows. One great show not to miss is where WWI era planes fly overhead and an early automobile drives below – you really get a feel for the time period this way! Another unique opportunity that the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome offers guests is the chance to sour high up in the air over the Hudson Valley in a classic 1929 New Standard open-cockpit biplane. Kids and adults alike will love the thrill of riding in the safe planes with experienced pilots who will be able to tell them everything there is to know about the early history of airplanes (though it does get loud up there)! A real treat!

The museum is open daily from May through October from 10:00am to 5:00pm with airshows between 2:00pm and 4:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays in June through October (weather permitting). Tickets are available for about $20 for adults and $5 for kids (less on the weekends), but if you come dressed in period costumes, you'll get an additional discount! Biplane rides cost an additional $65. Here's a tip: Bring a blanket or a cushion to sit on while you test out some of the planes – the seat boards can be a bit dusty and splintery!

The Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome is located in Red Hook, New York and is easily accessible via the Taconic State Parkway or the New York State Thruway. You can also ride Amtrak and enjoy a beautiful ride along the Hudson River. For airplane enthusiasts or just for those who crave a view of the bygone years, the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome is the place for you!
