Our History Buff Says:

Visit FDR's favorite estate, and home to the first US Presidential Library, which he founded in 1939.

The Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site contains the lifelong home of America's only 4-term President, also known as Springwood. Visitors can take a guided tour of FDR's home and see his bedroom, his favorite room in the house, the room and bed in which he was born and his boyhood bedroom, later used by each of his sons. Besides for the home itself, there's a self-guided tour of the museum and visitors can take a stroll across the grounds, gardens, and trails of this 300-acre site. The presidential library and museum displays a collection of cool artifacts from the period of the Great Depression to World War II, including his model boats and naval prints, more than 15 million pages of historic documents, and his desk from the White House, complete with his favorite pipes and knick-knacks.

The Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt is located on Route 9 in Hyde Park, NY about 90 miles north of New York City and 70 miles south of Albany. Enjoy getting to know one of America's most beloved presidents! See you there!
