Our Nature Nut Says:

Rock Creek Park, in the nation's capital, tells the story of past generations and provides a beautiful wooded recreational area for visitors. Although this popular jogging park has a distinctly urban feel, it is home to plenty of fresh air and hundreds of different plant and animal species (including the "Bunnyman," a legendary predatory rabbit who likely exists only in the minds of imaginative locals). The park also administers several other area parks and cultural exhibits including the Pierce Mill and Civil War fortifications, such as Fort Stevens. The nature center has great hands-on activities for kids while adults can enjoy cross-country skiing, hiking, tennis, exercise trails, bird watching, and much more.

From Rock Creek Park - Washington, DC:

Rock Creek Park is truly a gem in our nation's capital. It offers visitors an opportunity to reflect and soothe their spirits through the beauty of nature. Fresh air, majestic trees, wild animals, and the ebb and flow of Rock Creek emanate the delicate aura of the forest. Our country's history abounds within the park. Visitors walk in the footsteps of Piscataway Indians, the Old Stone House attests to a time when Washington, D.C. was a new capital, Peirce Mill reminds us how a new technology aided the economic growth of the nation, and Civil War remnants divulge stories of unrest. Rock Creek Park is also a place to play soccer, picnic, hike, bike and rollerblade, play tennis, fish, horseback ride, listen to a concert, or attend programs with a park ranger.
