Piscataway Park is a serene 6-mile stretch of preserved land on the banks of Maryland's Potomac River. Meadows, wetlands, and forests provide refuge for a wide variety of plants and animals including the bald eagle. Visitors should take advantage of National Colonial Farm, a lively tribute to colonial living on a tobacco plant complete with a farmhouse, a charming barn, and live craft demonstrations by "characters" from colonial days. There is also a dock, and a quiet picnic area. The park is only open during daylight hours.
From Piscataway Park - Maryland:
The tranquil view from Mount Vernon of the Maryland shore of the Potomac is preserved as a pilot project in the use of easements to protect parklands from obtrusive urban expansion. The project began in 1952 to preserve the river view as in was during George Washington's day. Piscataway Park stretches for 6 miles from Piscataway Creek to Marshall Hall on the Potomac River.
