Our Nature Nut Says:

The serene Catoctin Mountain Park in western Maryland affords spectacular vistas of sparkling freshwater streams, hardwood forests, and Monacacy Valley. Once an important logging, farming, and mining site, the transformed mountain park is now known for all types of recreation activities. Although you cannot visit the presidential retreat of Camp David, there are tons of other great activities for visitors such as camping, fly-fishing, hiking, and cross-country skiing. Rock climbing and rappelling on Wolf Rock is also popular. A hike through the oak, hickory, and maple tree forests will likely result in several animal sightings; deer, chipmunks, wild turkey, and even black bears all live within the park.
