Enjoy dance, musicals, opera, jazz, rock n' roll and country music among 130 acres of rolling hills and woods! If you love live performances, then this National Park is for you! No matter what your age or taste, you'll find something to enjoy at Wolf Trap.
Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, known locally as Wolf Trap, is a 100 acre site featuring a wide variety of summer outdoor and yearlong indoor entertainment. Wolf Trap was originally founded due to a generous donation of farmland from Catherine Filene Shouse. In 1966 Wolf Trap was established as the only national park dedicated to live performing arts. Most of the activity in the park is centered around performances at the Filene Center outdoor venue and the Children's Theatre-in-the-Woods—definitely check out the schedule of special performing arts programs for children. It is home to the National Symphony Orchestra in the summer months, and on warm evenings many come early and bring a picnic dinner to make the most of their evening under the trees. In the colder months, the indoor Barns at Wolf Trap fill with the sounds of folk, country, and chamber music. And if you're looking for a bit more activity, there are even workshops offered by performers of the Children's Theatre at the Meadow Pavilion.
To get to Wolf Trap National park for the Performing Arts, take the Capital Beltway to exit 45 (Route 267 West/Dulles Toll Road). Follow the signs to local exits, pass through the toll ($.75), and exit at Wolf Trap. The park will be on the right—you can't miss it! Have fun listening to music under the stars at Wolf Trap National Park!
