The Thomas Stone National Historic Site is the restored home of Thomas Stone, purchased by the Stone family in 1770. This interactive site includes 1840's outbuildings and the burial sites of Stone, his family members, and his slaves and servants. Visitors are welcome to stroll the 322 acres of Haberdeventure, or the "dwelling place in the winds," and check out cool exhibits and a thorough orientation film. There are Ranger-led programs available for the history hungry and everyone will enjoy the 30 minute tours of park grounds and farm buildings. This site provides hours of fun and education for the whole family!
The Thomas Stone National Historic Site is 30 miles south of Washington D.C and located 5 miles west of Highway 301 (La Plata, MD). It is situated on Rose Hill Road between Maryland Routes 6 and 225 near Port Tobacco, Maryland.
