Visit the seat of American power at the President's Park in Washington, D.C. President's Park encompasses the White House, Lafayette Park and the Ellipse. The 70-acre park offers a wide assortment of opportunities to learn about the history of the sites.

The White House was originally completed in 1800, though it has been periodically renovated and expanded ever since. The White House Visitor Center at President's Park contains six permanent exhibits relating to the White House and its inhabitants, a 30-minute orientation video, and a wide array of interpretive programs.

The seven-acre Lafayette Park was established in 1804, and contains five statues dedicated to various heroes of the American Revolution, including Andrew Jackson, France's General Lafayette and Major General Comte Jean de Rochambeau, Poland's General Thaddeus Kosciuszko, and Prussia's Major General Baron Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben. Visitors to Lafayette Park can learn about the history of the five heroes.

The Ellipse, a 52-acre public park filled with various monuments and commemorative fountains, offers visitors the chance to take a beautiful walk or view the wildlife, including gray squirrels and the red-tailed hawk. After a day at President's Park, visitors can find dozens of restaurants within easy walking distance, ranging from grills to cafes.

To get to President's Park, take the Blue Line Metro train to the Farragut West Metro Station, then walk south along 17th Street Northwest.
