Things to do / Travel Guide
With two major cities, Washington DC and Baltimore, the capital region is home to sports fans aplenty. Whether baseball, basketball, football, or hockey is your bag, the region is sure not to disappoint.
DC plays host to the NFL's ever-popular Redskins, as well as Major League Baseball's Nationals, formerly the Montreal Expos. The city's Verizon Center is the home of the NBA's Wizards as well as the NHL's aptly-named Capitals. Baltimore has some big-league franchises of its own, with the NFL's Ravens and Major League Baseball's Orioles making their home in the city.
Aside from the four major sports, the capital region is also a place where sports fans can take in soccer, tennis, and horseracing action. In particular, the region is known for hosting the Legg Mason Tennis Classic each summer, as well as the prestigious Preakness Stakes in Laurel Park.
