Public Recreational Parks in Washington D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland

Things to do / Travel Guide

The Mall in Washington DC has been called the nation's playground. There is certainly no shortage of room in the Mall to run free, play Frisbee, or even fly a kite when the weather is right. In all directions on nice days, you'll see sunbathers, picnickers, and families just having fun, so it's the ideal way to let kids release any pent up tension that might have come from that last museum visit. Food and souvenir vendors surround the mall in all directions, so you can easily cool down with a drink or ice cream on those hot DC summer days. For a more nature-oriented park in the DC area with many winding trails and forested areas, check out Rock Creek Park.

Baltimore also has its fair share of open spaces, parks, and play areas. For a list of park areas in the city, check out the parks in Baltimore County.
