Nesting serenely in the heart of the San Bernardino National Forest lies one of Southern California's premier cross country and snowshoeing areas. A member of the Cross Country and Snowshoe Association of America, Rim Nordic is a little piece of skiing heaven.
Twelve miles of groomed snow provides ample room for both Nordic skiing and snowshoeing treks. A base elevation of 6775 feet and 6 trails ranging from beginning to advanced are available for daytime exploration, though the resort does not offer nighttime hours. Take "Country Road" for 3.2 miles, and finish it off with "Lower Country Road" for another 3.2 miles, to get your blood pumping and face flushing.
Children 10 and under ski free, and daily passes are less than $20, making this a very affordable trip for the whole family. If you are planning a Nordic skiing trip to Arizona or New Mexico as well, make sure to check out Rim Nordic's season pass which grants admission to 2 other resorts in Red River and Flagstaff.
Rentals, as well as ski and Telemark lessons, are available for a nominal fee. Sign up with the ski school desk to take advantage of this as the times are limited and on a set schedule.
Lodging and nightlife can be found in the surrounding 10 miles as this resort is located near several other ski resorts such as Bear Mountain. A small food bar is located on site for hot and cold selections and a chance to rest your weary legs and arms.
Rim Nordic is conveniently located in a ski heavy area just 5 miles east of Running Springs, off Highway 18. It's situated just 1 ½ hours away from Los Angeles and 2 ½ hours from San Diego so come on down and coast the slopes.
