Jet planes, war planes and demo flights will delight visitors at the unique Palm Springs Air Museum. With the mission of eternalizing the role of World War II combat aircraft and the impact of the American pilots' great victory, the museum uses aircraft, artifacts and artwork to perpetuate American history. After all, it was Air Power that forever changed the lives of every person alive today after the War. The Palm Springs Air Museum is housed in an impressive building including three display hangars with full airport access to view flight demonstrations.
Palm Springs Air Museum showcases one of the largest collections of flying World War planes, rare and original combat photos, enormous murals and artwork, uniforms, memorabilia, artifacts and video documentaries.
Easy-to-follow storylines are presented in permanent exhibitions and displays that give a geographical and historical account of the war.. Grummans, Pipers, McDonnell Douglas's, P51 Mustangs and more are all on display (or flying up above!). Visitors will also find Harrier Jets, Tomcats, and Intruder Jet planes.
Take a tour of the B-52 (Flying Fortress) plane from the inside or check out some helicopters and Hornet jets. Also on display is a lovely collection of antique cars such as Rickenbackers, Tuckers and many more which the museum rotates on loan from the collection of Robert Pond.
Guided tours and special youth tours are available daily at the Palm Springs Air Museum. Veterans often volunteer to take groups around and provide a meaningful and memorable experience.
The museum's gift shop sells clothing, bomber jackets and caps, all available with reminiscent images of WWII. Frame prints, gifts, books, videos, DVDs, model planes, ships and other aircraft items are also available.
The Palm Springs Air Museum can be found on the northeast side of the Palm Springs Airport. You won't want to miss this one. Airplane buffs, history buffs, war buffs and those who simply want to honor the veterans will appreciate this impressive museum.
