Things to do / Travel Guide
Think “desert” and images of tremendous beauty mixed with hot, dry, hard rock danger come to mind. Think “desert golf” and the same rules apply. Take the La Quinta Hotel Golf Club Mountain Course. That's right, “mountain,” as a site for a golf course in the middle of the desert. Beautiful, yes. But dangerous too. You'll have to be an excellent shot maker to flourish here. Otherwise you'll feel your game roast in the sun.
Same rules apply for the PGA West Stadium Course - great looks, but beware of the dangerous curves. Tiered landing areas and deep bunkers are treats to the eyes when you're watching Tiger Woods on a flat screen TV, but navigating them yourself can cause the lips to parch. Once again, precise shot making is the key to success here.
