Shoot the whitewater rapids of the Matanuska River. Challenge the 26 miles of Class II-III (valley); III-IV (Lionshead) rapids. See the 27-mile long Matanuska Glacier, what more could you want? These sections, Matanuska River Valley and Lionshead, pass through Matanuska Valley, and are located in south-central Alaska, east of Palmer, 10 miles south of Route 1-Glenn Hwy.

Practical Info: Rafting season is open approximately from June to September, with whitewater rafting trips that can be completed in 1 day. Popular trips include the 12 mile Matanuska Valley section, and the 14 mile Lionshead section. The river is suitable for paddle rafts, and oar rafts.

Expect to See: Dall's sheep in an environment of mountains, and glaciers.
