Chena Hot Springs

Things to do / Travel Guide

Our Tourist Attractions Expert Says:

Just sixty miles east of Fairbanks lie the Chena Hot Springs. They are easily accessible and a resort has been built around the springs to help tourists enjoy the beautiful countryside that is teeming with moose and other wildlife. Hotel rooms, suites, cabins, tent and RV sites and even yurts are available.

If you want to get active before your dip in the springs, tons of activities are available from the resort, some of the most popular include: mountain biking, panning for gold, rafting and canoe trips, dog sled rides, fishing, and snowmobiling.

In the summer months the resort tends to be teeming with mostly American and European tourists but in the wintertime the Japanese flock here. They come not only for the hot springs but also to see the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, which is on display about 90 percent of the time during the winter months.
